The short answer: Selleasy is a Shopify app that adds upsell and cross-sell offers to your shop: product bundles, cart add-ons, checkout prompts and post-purchase upsells. Its published prices are $9, $19 and $29 a month in US dollars, billed every 30 days. A UK shop pays in pounds plus 20% VAT, bringing the real cost to roughly £9, £18 and £28. The free tier covers up to 50 orders a month, and the $9 Basic plan covers up to 500. Most UK shops never need more than Basic.

Selleasy sits in the Shopify App Store alongside dozens of upsell apps. It fires offers at the product page, in the cart, at checkout, and on the thank-you page. The goal is lifting average order value without changing your traffic. If you are new to the platform, our Setting up a Shopify shop in the UK: the full guide covers the wider setup.

The App Store listing shows four pricing tiers, a 30-day free trial, and monthly billing in US dollars. None of that tells you what leaves your British bank account. This guide converts, adds VAT, and tells you which tier you need.

What Selleasy charges in pounds, not dollars

The dollar price is the headline. The pound price is the bill. Selleasy's App Store listing, checked on 1 September 2026, shows four tiers: free, then $9, $19 and $29 a month, all billed every 30 days in US dollars. Prices can change; the listing is authoritative.

Converting dollars to pounds is where most guides stop. They should not. A UK shop pays 20% VAT on the subscription, because Selleasy is a digital service supplied to a UK business. At recent exchange rates, $9 converts to roughly £7. Add 20% VAT and you are at £8.40, call it £9. The same maths takes $19 to roughly £18 and $29 to roughly £28.

The exchange rate shifts. The 20% VAT does not. That is the number to plan around.

Plan USD per month Approx. GBP + VAT Order limit
Free $0 £0 Up to 50 orders/month
Basic $9 ~£9 Up to 500 orders/month
Pro $19 ~£18 Up to 1,000 orders/month
Premium $29 ~£28 Above 1,000 orders/month

The UK is expected to have roughly 52 million e-commerce users in 2025, according to Statista's market data. UK e-commerce revenue is forecast to reach 131.4 billion GBP by 2029. A shop in that market needs to know its app costs in pounds, not dollar guesses.

The order-limit cliff: why Basic is the only plan most shops need

Selleasy's pricing is not a smooth curve. It is a cliff. The listing, checked on 1 September 2026, sets the bands. The free tier covers up to 50 orders a month; Basic covers up to 500 at $9. The $19 Pro plan reaches 1,000, and the $29 Premium plan takes anything above.

Most UK shops sit well within the 500-order band. A shop doing 200 orders a month with a £40 average basket turns over £8,000 before fees. It pays Selleasy £9. The app needs to lift average order value by roughly 23p per order to break even. A single bundle that adds a £5 item to one in twenty baskets does that.

The higher tiers make sense only when you outgrow the 500-order cap. The listing does not clarify whether you are charged immediately, upgraded automatically, or held to renewal when you cross the boundary. Plan for the possibility that crossing 500 orders triggers an upgrade.

The Baymard Institute's 2025 research found a documented average cart abandonment rate of 70.22%. Upsell apps target the 30% who complete the purchase, not the 70% who leave. Order volume, not visitor count, is the right metric for choosing a tier.

VAT on top of Selleasy's listed price

Yes, 20% UK VAT applies. Selleasy is a digital service supplied to a UK business, so the standard rate applies to the subscription. This is separate from the VAT you charge your customers. It is VAT on your input cost.

The UK VAT registration threshold is £90,000, according to the Value Added Tax Act 1994, Schedule 1, published by The National Archives in 2024. The deregistration threshold is £88,000. These figures govern when your shop must register, not when Selleasy must charge VAT. Selleasy charges VAT regardless of your status.

If your shop is not VAT-registered, you still pay the 20% and cannot reclaim it. Our VAT on a Shopify shop: a UK guide covers the wider question.

Annual billing and the lack of a discount

There is no annual option. Selleasy charges every 30 days, full stop. You cannot pay for a year upfront and save, because the option does not exist.

Shopify's own plans do offer annual billing at a discount, as shown on https://www.shopify.com/uk/pricing. Selleasy does not follow that pattern. Budget for the monthly figure indefinitely.

The 30-day free trial softens this. You get a month to measure whether the app lifts your average order value before the first charge hits. After that, the bill is monthly and recurring.

Checkout compatibility and hidden costs

Selleasy fires offers at several points: product page, cart, checkout, and the thank-you page. The checkout and post-purchase placements depend on Shopify's checkout extensibility. Selleasy's listing says it supports the current checkout.

The hidden cost is not Selleasy's fee. It is the cost of an upsell offer that slows checkout. The Baymard Institute found in 2025 that 17% of US online shoppers abandoned an order because the checkout was too long or complicated. The same research showed a large e-commerce site can gain up to 35% conversion through better checkout design. An upsell prompt helps only if it does not add friction.

Using Shopify Payments avoids Shopify's additional third-party transaction fees. Our Shopify Payments in the UK: fees and setup guide covers that separately. Selleasy's subscription sits on top of whatever you pay Shopify for the plan and card processing.

Klarna, a common UK checkout option, uses a redirect flow. Post-purchase upsell offers may not fire correctly if the customer completes payment through Klarna. Test this before relying on it.

When you should not install Selleasy

Not every shop needs an upsell app. If your average order value is under £15, the lift from a bundle is unlikely to cover £9 a month. At £15 AOV and 200 orders, a 5% upsell lift adds £150 in revenue. Selleasy costs £9, so it works. At £10 AOV and 50 orders, the same lift adds £25. The free tier covers you, but the gain is marginal.

If you sell on Shopify Starter, you do not have a full online checkout. Selleasy's checkout and post-purchase offers will not fire. The product page and cart placements still work, but you are paying for features you cannot use.

If you process fewer than 50 orders a month, the free tier is sufficient. Do not pay for the Basic plan until you outgrow it. If you are still choosing your platform, our What does Shopify cost per month in the UK? guide puts the platform cost in context. Our What is Shopify, and how does it work in the UK? primer explains the platform itself.

What you'll really pay in your first year

Take a typical UK shop in its first year: 150 orders a month, £35 average basket, growing steadily. This shop sits in the Basic tier at roughly £9 a month including VAT.

The first 30 days are free. After that, the bill is £9 a month. Over a full year, that is 11 paid months at £9, or £99. Your total Selleasy cost for year one is roughly £99.

That assumes no sharp exchange-rate move and no crossing the 500-order limit. If your shop grows to 600 orders by month eight, you may be pushed to the $19 tier, roughly £18 a month, for the remaining four months. That adds £36, bringing the total to £135.

Our suggested decision checklist:

  • Fewer than 50 orders a month: Free tier.
  • 50 to 500 orders a month: Basic at roughly £9/month.
  • Average order value under £15: The lift may not cover the subscription.
  • On Shopify Starter: No full checkout, so checkout upsells will not fire.
  • Using Klarna: Test post-purchase offers before relying on them.

The number that matters is £9. Not $9. Not the Pro tier. For most UK shops in their first year, Selleasy costs £9 a month, and the free trial gives you a month to confirm it earns its keep.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Selleasy cost per month in GBP for UK Shopify shops?

Selleasy lists $9, $19 and $29 a month in US dollars. After converting to pounds and adding 20% VAT, the effective cost is roughly £9, £18 and £28. The free tier covers up to 50 orders a month at no charge. The exact pound figure moves with the exchange rate; the 20% VAT is fixed.

Does Selleasy charge UK VAT on top of its monthly price?

Yes. Selleasy is a digital service supplied to a UK business, so the standard 20% rate applies. If your shop is below the £90,000 registration threshold, you still pay the 20% on Selleasy's subscription and cannot reclaim it.

What happens if my shop goes over Selleasy's order limit mid-month?

Selleasy's listing does not clarify whether you are charged immediately, upgraded automatically, or held to renewal when you cross the limit. We have not tested this. Budget for the possibility that crossing 500 orders on the Basic plan triggers an upgrade to the $19 tier from that month onward.

Can I use one Selleasy subscription across multiple Shopify shops?

No. Selleasy is installed per shop, like most Shopify apps. Each shop needs its own installation and its own subscription. Two shops on the Basic tier cost roughly £18 a month total, not £9.
